A young man has died of hemorrhagic fever in Orenburg
A young man has died of hemorrhagic fever in Orenburg, Southern Urals, the chief doctor of the city’s infectious diseases hospital Viktor Meshcheryakov said on Tuesday. Another 70 people have been hospitalized with Korean hemorrhagic fever. “We have five to seven new patients a day. The last outbreak of hemorrhagic fever that bad was registered in 2001,” he said. The most endangered regions are Kuvandyk, Ilek, Tashla and the suburbs of Orenburg. Rapid growth in the population of harvest mice over this year's exceptionally dry summer and autumn is to blame for the spreading infection.
