Russian business is ready to form the Common Economic Space (CES) with Kazakhstan, Belarus and Ukraine
Russian business is ready to form the Common Economic Space (CES) with Kazakhstan, Belarus and Ukraine, but is concerned by the political and economic risks involved, a Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs official said Wednesday. "There is a certain measure of concern over the politicization of this process, when the position of the Ukrainian leadership is unacceptable for one reason, the Belarusian position is unacceptable for another, while Kazakhstan's long-term plans are not entirely clear," RUIE Vice President Igor Yurgens said at a roundtable meeting on forming the CES. "This creates an element of uncertainty as to what resources Russian business should invest in the unfolding process via its business unions and cooperation with state agencies," he said.
