Yury Syomin announced Tuesday that he was stepping down from his position as the coach of Russia's national soccer team. Syomin, 58, said he would continue his career as the coach of one of Russia's soccer clubs, but did not specify which. He signed a contract to lead the Russian national soccer team in 2005 and replaced former coach Georgy Yartsev. Before that, he was the coach for the Lokomotiv Moscow soccer club, which won the national title in 2002 and 2004.
