Sakhalin's oil and gas development projects have attracted investments from more than ten foreign countries, which have established 106 their own enterprises on the island. Hundreds of millions of US dollars have come in to Sakhalin from the Netherlands, Britain, Japan, the United States, and India, which participate in the Sakhalin shelf development projects, Vadim Rokotov, acting chairman of the committee for international, foreign-economic, and interregional contacts, announced on Thursday. Rokotov pointed out that foreign investments are being also made in public catering, trade, construction, insurance, and banking, with Turkey, the Republic of Korea, and other countries taking part. Indian and Japanese medium-sized businesses have opened four restaurants here.
