About 7,500 fowl infected by bird flu have died in Russia since the middle of October, a spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry said Monday. "From October 14 to November 3, deaths of domestic fowl caused by the bird flu virus (type A, H5N1 strain) were reported in five Federation members: the Tula, Tambov, Chelyabinsk, and Omsk regions, and the Altai Territory," the spokesman said. "A total of 7,407 birds have died or were culled." In a separate development, President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said Monday that seven people had died from bird flu disease in the country.
