The pictures from the Russian Pushkin Museum loaded on special trucks have left Geneva and are heading for Russia
The pictures from the Russian Pushkin Museum loaded on special trucks have left Geneva and are heading for Russia. The trucks are on the way, said Russian Consul to Geneva Dmitry Mazhurov. He did not say how soon the four trucks would reach the border. The route of the trucks has been kept secret for security reasons, he added. A representative of the Russian Consulate general is accompanying the truck convoy. Fifty- four pictures from the Russian museum were detained in Switzerland as claimed by Noga Company that has debt claims to Russia. Nonetheless, the Swiss government adopted a resolution on Wednesday evening that the pictures may unconditionally be taken away from the Swiss territory. "All technical problems connected with the transportation of the pictures have been settled,” the consul said, adding that the return of the pictures was going ahead as planned.
