Mikhail Zurabov denied reports of human-to-human transmission of bird flu in the Ulyanovsk region on the Volga River Thursday
Russian Health and Social Development Minister Mikhail Zurabov denied reports of human-to-human transmission of bird flu in the Ulyanovsk region on the Volga River Thursday. "I don't have any information about the mass contagion of bird flu in the Ulyanovsk region," he told journalists. "The data I have causes me to assume this information is somewhat distorted." Zurabov said isolated instances of humans contracting bird flu had been registered worldwide, and they all involved the spread of the virus from birds to humans, not from humans to humans. He added that the world community was working to prevent a bird flu epidemic by various means, including vaccinations.
