Seven candidates were officially registered for Russian Olympic Committee presidency
Seven candidates were officially registered for Russian Olympic Committee presidency before the registration deadline had expired at 6 p.m. (1500 GMT) on Monday. The seven candidates are: -- Valentin Balakhnichev, president of the Russian Track and Field Federation; -- Valery Kuzin, first vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee and president of the Association of Summer Sports; -- Vladimir Lisin, first vice-president of the Russian Federation of Swimming; -- Irina Rodnina, chairman of the Central Council of the Athletic Russia volunteer association (nominated by the Tennis Federation, the Track and Field Federation, and the Weightlifting Federation); -- Leonid Tyagachev, incumbent president of the Russian Olympic Committee; and -- Viktor Khotochkin, vice president of the Russian Olympic Committee. Twenty-five candidates are running for the post of first vice president of the Russian Olympic Committee. The elections will be held on December 22.
