Kazakhstan is proposing adopting a pact on Caspian Sea region stability
Kazakhstan is proposing adopting a pact on Caspian Sea region stability, the Kazakh foreign minister said Tuesday. "We are proposing joint efforts to draft and adopt a political document in the form of a pact on Caspian Sea stability that will include such cooperation trends as the fight against terrorism, illicit arms and drug trafficking and illegal migration," Kasymzhomart Tokayev said at a session of a task force set up to draft the convention on the Caspian Sea status. He also said the pact could be adopted at the second summit of the Caspian Sea leaders. "The Caspian states are facing the important task of the quickest formation of a long-term and solid legal basis of cooperation between the Caspian states that would allow us to preserve the Caspian Sea and its riches for future generations," the minister said.
