Ukraine wants Russian natural gas export settlements to remain as they are sealed in a Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental agreement
Ukraine wants Russian natural gas export settlements to remain as they are sealed in a Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental agreement, a senior official of the national oil and gas company said Tuesday in an interview with a government paper. Vsevolod Shperun, the deputy board chairman of Neftegaz Ukrainy, said that Russia intended to pay for natural gas transit across Ukraine in cash and wanted Ukraine also to pay with cash for Russian gas exports. Today, Ukraine gets $50 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas on DAF (delivered at frontier) terms and $1.09 per 1,000 cubic meters for natural gas transit per 100 kilometers. "The price of natural gas exports is not very high, but the transit rate is also below the European level," the official said. He added that Russia wanted to raise the price of gas exports due to the growth of oil and petroleum product prices.
