The administration of the Khabarovsk Territory is taking measures for intensifying water control in the Amur River
This is connected with the pollution of the Sungari River, which is a tributary of the Amur River, after a series of explosions at a chemical factory in Jilin Province of China. The authorities of the People’s Republic of China admitted on Wednesday the fact of the contamination with dangerous chemicals of the Sungari River, which is a tributary of the Amur River. Highly toxic agents got into the river as a result of the explosions at a chemical factory, situated in the upper reaches of the river, on November 13, the Chinese State Department for the Environmental Protection reported. The Chinese city of Harbin with a population of nine million is situated on the banks of the Sungari River. The Harbin authorities suspended for four days water supply to the population until they established all the circumstances of the incident and received the results of the analyses.
