Some 57,000 illegal immigrants have been deported from Russia in 2005, a Russian Federal Migration Service official said Thursday. Service head Konstantin Romodanovsky said 104,000 people in 2004 and 49,000 in the first half of this year have been punished under the administrative code for violating the migration regulations. Romodanovsky also said that, starting January 1, 2007, it was planned to give new foreign passports with biometric data to Russian citizens for traveling. There are currently 114 migration control check posts in Russia, he said.
