Russia is intending to diversify its exports of oil and natural gas
Russia is intending to diversify its exports of oil and natural gas, and considerably increase its supplies to the Asia-Pacific region, the minister of industry and energy said Friday. Speaking at an energy conference in the Indian capital, Viktor Khristenko said: "If we currently supply more than 90% [of our oil and natural gas] to Europe, then in the future we will concentrate more on the Asia-Pacific region. We intend to increase oil exports to Asian countries from 3% to 30% by 2020, or up to 100 million metric tons. Natural gas exports will increase from the current 4% to 20%, or 65 billion cubic meters." Khristenko was presenting a concept of how Russia would interact with Asia's leading consumers: India, China, South Korea, and Japan.
