Viktor Khristenko outlined the global energy security agenda Friday for the G8 under Russia's presidency
Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko outlined the global energy security agenda Friday for the G8 under Russia's presidency. "We propose discussing the following issues: the steady supply of energy resources to world economies under reasonable prices, the use of new energy sources, the improved efficiency and safety of the energy industry and the transition to ecologically clean energy production," Khristenko said during an energy forum in India's capital of New Delhi. He said accomplishing these goals was impossible without the active participation of growing Asian economies. "We will have to develop common approaches to complex issues like the stabilization of energy markets, which is impossible without ensuring their predictability through long-term contracts and a dialog between producers and consumers," the minister said. While holding the G8 rotating presidency, Russia will promote the introduction of insurance plans, the sharing of financial risks in the energy sector and the transition to ecologically clean production and transportation technologies, Khristenko said.
