Alexei Kudrin is not planning on missing the G8 finance ministers' meeting in December
Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin is not planning on missing the G8 finance ministers' meeting in December after his appendectomy this week, the minister's press secretary said Friday. Gennady Yezhov said it would take the minister five days to recover from the surgery. "This is why the finance minister has not canceled his plans to attend the G8 finance ministers' meeting scheduled for December 2-3 in London," Yezhov said. He said Kudrin had been taken to the hospital in early Wednesday, shortly after his return from a business trip to Magadan in the Far East, to undergo emergency surgery. "Doctors said the case was 'fairly complicated', and recovery would take five days," the press secretary said. Kudrin's recovery, however, is likely to affect his ability to comment on the lower house of parliament's scheduled debate on state energy giant Gazprom's share liberalization Friday.
