Three trucks have returned the last remaining paintings impounded last week in Switzerland to the Pushkin Museum of Moscow
Three trucks have returned the last remaining paintings impounded last week in Switzerland to the Pushkin Museum of Moscow, a Russian customs official said Friday. According to the official, the delivery documents are in the process of being finalized before the trucks head for the museum. Trucks carrying the first of the paintings arrived from Switzerland in Moscow Tuesday morning, with two more having arrived Wednesday. The $1-billion artwork collection of 54 canvasses was seized last Wednesday on Swiss-based trading company Noga's request as part of a long-standing legal dispute with the Russian government over contractual obligations. Swiss authorities overturned the seizure.
