The share of currency in the money supply is gradually decreasing in the Russian economy, the chairman of the Central Bank of Russia said Friday. Sergei Ignatyev said the money supply (M2, which includes certain liquid assets such as savings deposits and market funds) increased by 22% during the first 10 months of 2005 against 18.5% in 2004. The increase of currency (M1) in circulation outside banks held at the same level for the same period last year at 14.2%.
