About 40 people were detained in Moscow on Sunday for trying to hold an unauthorized picket near the City Hall on Tverskaya Street, a source in the city police information department told Itar-Tass. He said the detained people had been taken to the Tverskaya police station. They will be set free but have to appear before court, which will announce their punishment. Yabloko and the Union of Right Forces organized the picket of about 50 people in protest against the Moscow authorities’ ban on ‘an anti-Fascist march.’ Only rallies can be held in Moscow a week before the local elections, and marches and similar actions are banned.
