Trade between Russia and Japan increased by 41% in 2003
Trade between Russia and Japan increased by 41% in 2003, according to the chairman of the Russian-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation, Arkadii Volskii. Volskii said Thursday that 'Trade in 2003 between our countries totaled USD 6 billion. Undoubtedly, a great deal of credit for this belongs to the Russian and Japanese governments. However, the work of the Committee for Economic Cooperation also played an important part in the growth of trade.' Volksii said that the total volume of accumulated investment for the beginning of 2004 was USD 1.9 billion. Direct investment accounted for more than 70%.
