At least 14 people, including 10 children, have been killed in a Urals town after the roof of a swimming pool collapsed
At least 14 people, including 10 children, have been killed in a Urals town after the roof of a swimming pool collapsed, a spokesman for rescuers at the scene said Monday morning. The spokesman said the tragedy occurred on Sunday at 12.30 Moscow time (9.30 a.m. GMT). In a terrible echo of a similar tragedy that claimed 28 lives in 2004 when the glass dome of Moscow's Transvaal aqua park collapsed, the roof of the swimming pool in the town of Chusovoi, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of regional center Perm, fell in while the children were in the water. According to the spokesman, the rescue operation has now been completed.
