Russia and Ukraine have worked out a joint position on the settlement of the situation surrounding the self-proclaimed republic of Transdnestr in Moldova, the Russian foreign minister said Monday. Sergei Lavrov said at a news conference after talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Boris Tarasyuk as part of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that Moscow "backs the Transdnestr conflict settlement plan worked out by [Ukrainian President] Viktor Yushchenko". "Russia submitted a number of specific proposals to implement this plan," Lavrov said. "We have developed a joint approach."
