The net profit of Russian telecommunications giant Svyazinvest in the first nine months of 2005 aggregated 22.6 billion rubles ($780.3 million), up 62.5% on the same period year, the company said Monday. Earnings for the period grew 14.5% to 153.4 billion rubles ($5.3 billion) and sales profits rose 20.3% to 39.6 billion rubles ($1.4 billion). The holding's capital investment in the period totaled 31.7 billion rubles ($1.1 billion), down 16% on the same period last year. Svyazinvest is one of the world's largest telecomm holdings. It consists of seven big interregional companies and six open joint stock companies, including Rostelecom. Svyazinvest has an authorized capital of more than 19.5 billion rubles ($673.2 million). The state holds 75% of company stock. Cypriot consortium Mustcom Ltd. holds the blocking stake (25% + one share).
