Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has suffered a second stroke in less than a month and was operated on at the Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem. He was hospitalised on Wednesday evening with complaints over feeling bad. He was to undergo a planned heart by-pass surgery on Thursday. Under Israeli legislation, Vice Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was appointed acting head of the country's Cabinet from Thursday. Itar-Tass learnt that all the Israeli ministers have been informed about the events. According to available information, Sharon had massive brain haemorrhage. Some time after hospitalisation he was connected to artificial lung and rushed to a surgery room. Sharon suffered the first stroke on December 18.
