Boris Gryzlov has denounced an attack on believers in a synagogue in Bolshaya Bronnaya Street in Moscow
State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov has denounced an attack on believers in a synagogue in Bolshaya Bronnaya Street in Moscow and expressed sympathy to the victims of the attack. “The demonstration of extremism is impermissible,” he told journalists on Thursday. The Duma speaker noted that the legislation aimed at the fight with xenophobia and extremism may be tightened. “If legislative measures are not sufficient, they probably should be tightened,” he emphasized. Gryzlov also noted that the Duma Committee for Public Associations and Religious Organisations was instructed at a Thursday meeting of the Duma Council to prepare a report about this incident and deliver it at a State Duma session on Friday, January 13. For his part, chairman of the Duma Security Committee Vladimir Vasilyev told journalists that he would not draw hasty conclusions about the causes of the incident. “Investigation is in progress, let’s wait for its results,” the deputy pointed out.
