Aeroflot said Friday it had carried out exercises confirming the efficiency of its plans to cope with any passengers affected by the bird flu virus
Russian national carrier Aeroflot said Friday it had carried out exercises confirming the efficiency of its plans to cope with any passengers affected by the bird flu virus. "The goal of the exercise was to monitor the actions of a crew after the discovery of a passenger with bird flu symptoms on board, and to practice interaction between Aeroflot's crisis and emergency situations management center, the crew and health authorities," Aeroflot said in a statement. The company reported earlier that it had been conducting daily monitoring of the bird flu situation in Turkey. "All crews undergo medical check-ups before flights for bird flu symptoms," the statement said. "In addition, all crews have studied the procedures in a situation when a person with bird flu symptoms has been discovered on board and how to isolate him from other passengers." The spread of a deadly bird flu virus is causing concern throughout the world, with the number of fatal cases growing in Turkey and some Asian countries.
