The Russian government is considering allocating 500 million rubles ($17.7 million) to efforts to prevent the spread of bird flu
The Russian government is considering allocating 500 million rubles ($17.7 million) to efforts to prevent the spread of bird flu, the finance minister said Wednesday. Alexei Kudrin told journalists in Tokyo, where he is currently coordinating the agenda of a meeting with his colleagues from the G8 club of rich nations, that Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev had asked for the money so that it could be spent on vaccine development and other preventive measures. Kudrin added that the budget would remain unaffected by any allocation, as reserve funds are available for emergency situations.
