The Russian Foreign Ministry urged the Palestinian Authority to take measures to prevent acts of terrorism against Israel
The Russian Foreign Ministry urged the Palestinian Authority to take measures to prevent acts of terrorism against Israel, ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said Thursday in the wake of a recent terrorist attack in Tel Aviv. "Palestinian law enforcement bodies must establish those guilty of this crime and strictly punish the leaders and perpetrators," Kamynin said. A suicide bomber detonated explosives Thursday at a bus station in Tel Aviv, killing himself and leaving 16 people injured. "Moscow condemns the terrorist attack, which harmed innocent people," Kamynin said. "It is beyond a doubt that the aim of this crime was to destabilize Palestinian-Israeli relations before the elections to the Palestinian legislative council scheduled for January 25." Kamynin said it was important that Israel also provide assistance in holding the elections on time. "It would definitely ruin all the plans of extremists," he said. He said Moscow was positive that, despite terrorists' efforts, the Road Map to peace in the region would continue to be followed.
