Russia and India will sign Monday a protocol the conclusion of bilateral talks on the former's accession to the World Trade Organization
Russia and India will sign Monday a protocol the conclusion of bilateral talks on the former's accession to the World Trade Organization, a spokesman for Russia's economics ministry said. "The signing of a protocol on Russia's accession to the WTO along with a memorandum of cooperation between the Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry and India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry is set for February 6," a ministry spokesman said. Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref, who arrived in India on a three-day visit on Saturday, is also expected to meet with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and several ministers, including Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath, Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran, and Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram. The spokesman said Gref was also scheduled meet with corporate executives in a technology park in Bangalore, the capital of the country's booming computer industry. The relatively low costs in the country have made India a major electronics exporter in recent years, and the software industry has won global recognition. Russia has already completed WTO accession talks with 55 of the 58 member states. It has yet to reach agreements on access to its goods and services markets with the United States, Australia and Colombia.
