A Putin-Yushchenko interstate committee began a meeting in the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday
A Putin-Yushchenko interstate committee began a meeting in the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday over the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the Crimea, Ukraine’s enclave. A news conference is planned after the meeting at 19:00 Moscow time. Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Karasin leads the Russia delegation and First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Ogryzko the Ukrainian one. Twenty-five people participate in the talks on both sides, including representatives of the Russian and Ukrainian navies. President Viktor Yushchenko demanded at his meeting with the Ukrainian government on Monday that the Ukrainian delegation hold the talks “with a clearly outlined strategy”, the presidential press service said. He pointed to the need for “detailed monitoring of the signed documents, and inventory and audit of the real estate that the Russian Black Sea Fleet rents in the Crimea”.
