Russian President will hold the first in 2006 meeting of the State Council Presidium devoted to the development of information technologies
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday will hold the first in 2006 meeting of the State Council Presidium devoted to the development of information technologies in the Russian Federation. The Presidium is the main working body of the State Council of Russia. Its members are seven governors representing all federal districts. The “sevens” replace each other once in every six months. From September 2005 the State Council Presidium members are the governors of the Magadan, Arkhangelsk, Voronezh, Volgograd regions, heads of the Mary El republic, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area and Buryatia republic. The presidium meeting are held when the need arises, but as a rule once in a month. Reports at the Thursday meeting of the State Council Presidium will be delivered by head of the Chuvashia republic Nikolai Fyodorov and Minister of Information technology and Communication Leonid Reiman. The meeting has been prepared by ministers, governors, parliamentarians and leading experts in the sphere of information and communication technologies. The result is a report on the IT development in Russia and the statistical book entitled “Index of Russian Regions’ Preparedness for the Information Society.”
