A total of 149 people were evacuated on Thursday morning by rescuers of Yakutsk from a burning apartment block in Lermontov Street in the city, the main department of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry for the Yakutia republic told Itar-Tass. The heavy fire rated point three on the fire danger scale emerged as a result of a domestic gas explosion in one of the apartments of the nine-storey building. The flames quickly spread to adjacent apartments on the seventh floor. Rescuers arrived at the scene eight minutes after the fire alarm signal came and less than in two hours localised the fire. According to preliminary reports, three house dwellers - a man, woman and child were hurt in the conflagration and were rushed to a hospital. Rescuers have been working at the site of the fire and the investigation of the gas explosion and fire circumstances has been launched.
