Inflation in Russia in February was 1.7 percent
Inflation in Russia in February was 1.7 percent and made up 4.1 percent in the first two months of the year, the Federal Service for State Statistics said on Monday. The average daily price growth rate in February was 0.059 percent. Food prices in February increased by 3 percent. If fruits and vegetables are excluded, the growth was 1.9 percent. Tariffs for paid services to the population in February increased by 1 percent, and prices for consumer goods by 0.5 percent. Tariffs for paid services to the population in the first two months of the year grew by 7.2 percent, the price of food by 5 percent (2.9 percent without fruits and vegetables), and the price of consumer goods by 0.9 percent, the Prime-Tass news agency reported. Inflation in February in 2006 exceeded 2.5 percent in 15 Russian regions. Inflation was the highest – 4.8 percent – in the Ulyanovsk region. Inflation in Moscow was 1 percent in February and 4.2 percent in January and February, and in St. Petersburg it was 1.8 percent and 3.8 percent respectively.
