The Russian government approved at its meeting on Thursday a range of measures to develop agricultural engineering
The Russian government approved at its meeting on Thursday a range of measures to develop agricultural engineering, PRIME-TASS reported. Summing up the results of the discussion, Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said the plan, proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Energy, will be finalized by May 1. In the course of the discussion of the proposed measures, Economic Development Minister German Gref doubted the expediency of implementing the program to develop an array of diesel engines with water cooling for agricultural equipment. Instead of spending 200 million roubles on the program, it is more expedient to buy a license abroad and launch the production of such engines already now, Gref said. Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev called for setting up two or three powerful holdings in the sector capable of rivalling foreign produces of agricultural machinery under market conditions.
