Russia “is against the presence of military forces of third parties in the Caspian region”
Russia “is against the presence of military forces of third parties in the Caspian region,” Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the opening of a meeting of the special working group for the Caspian Sea legal status on Tuesday. Russia, said the minister, “Has proposed a formula of building military presence in the Caspian zone within the reasonable sufficiency frames.” “It is written in the Convention that we should respect sovereignty, independence and integrity of each other,” he said. “Preventing the threat posed by the presence of forces of third countries (in the Caspian zone) would guarantee that no causes for conflicts will emerge there,” the minister indicated.
