One man was killed, another eight people, including six children were injured as a result of the ceiling collapse in the three-storey office compound in Tyumen, chief press officer of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Natalia Lukash told Itar-Tass. “All injured people were hospitalized, two children and one adult are in severe condition,” she emphasized. She noted that the building where the incident occurred housed the offices of various companies on the first floor and a sport hall on the second and third floors. “The repairs was going on the first floor at the moment, and, according to the preliminary information, the ceiling has collapsed on the area of 200 square meters as a result of a gas blast,” Lukash said. The rescuers are working at the incident site. “The firefighters managed to fully put out the fire that broke out right after the ceiling collapse,” the chief press officer of the ministry said. The main emergencies department in the Tyumen region noted that people were entrapped under the debris. “In the first minutes of the rescue operation the body of the killed man was recovered, then the rescuers recovered eight injured people,” the main regional emergencies department pointed out.
