Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the federal law ratifying the UN Convention against Corruption
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the federal law ratifying the UN Convention against Corruption, the presidential press service said on Friday. The law was approved by the State Duma on February 17, 2006 and by the Federation Council on February 22. The law envisages the ratification of the UN Convention against Corruption that Russia signed on December 9, 2003. The convention lays a complex legal basis for the practical cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of various countries in order to expose, prevent, curb, solve and investigate corruption-related crimes that affect the jurisdiction and interests of two and more countries, and the return of resources received in criminal ways to a country of origin. The convention also contains several standards to prevent corruption and fight with it.
