Russia's oil production totaled 76 million metric tons in January-February
Russia's oil production totaled 76 million metric tons (558.6 million bbl) in January-February, a 1.6% year-on-year rise, the country's leading statistical body said Monday. The Federal State Statistics Service said oil production had increased 1.3% in February, compared with February 2005, but declined by 9.4% against January. Coal mining was up 5.1% to 52.3 million metric tons in the first two months of 2006, whereas natural gas production expanded 3.1% to 116 billion cubic meters. The output of iron ore increased 4.5% to 16.1 million tons, but apatite concentrate production contracted by 6% to 656,000 tons.
