Russia will hardly support a resolution on Iran that the UN Security Council is drafting
Russia will hardly support a resolution on Iran that the UN Security Council is drafting. “We will hardly support this draft resolution,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told journalists in Beijing on Wednesday. He called ultimatum the terms that the draft resolution sets for Iran. “If there were just the terms that the UN Security Council sets to learn how matters stand, but these terms are really ultimatum,” the minister emphasized. “This draft already contains the wordings that actually provide the grounds for sanctions, we believe it premature,” the Russian minister pointed out. According to him, the provisions of the UN Security Council’s draft resolution “actually hand over the Iranian nuclear problem from the IAEA to the UN Security Council.” “It is not right,” Lavrov indicated.
