As many as 5.727 million people are unemployed in Russia
As many as 5.727 million people are unemployed in Russia that is 7.7 percent of the whole economically active population of the country, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a report. The number of unemployed people increased by 1.1 percent in February 2006 as compared with January. Meanwhile, the number of the officially registered unemployed increased by 3.7 percent in February against January and reached 1.906 million people, PRIME-Tass reports. The Federal State Statistics Service estimated the number of the economically active population in Russia at 73.9 million people as of the end of February 2006 or about 51 percent of the whole Russian population. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, the real incomes of the Russians calculated with the deductions of compulsory payments and adjusted to the consumer price index increased by 9.5 percent in January-February 2006 as compared with the same period in 2005. The per capita incomes of the Russians made 8,092 roubles in February 2006. The average monthly nominal wages amounted to 9,106 roubles in February 2006.
