Russia's foreign trade turnover reached $29.7 billion in January
Russia's foreign trade turnover reached $29.7 billion in January, a 35.2% year-on-year rise, the Federal State Statistics Service said Wednesday. Based on Central Bank calculations, foreign trade turnover fell by 23.2% compared with December 2005. Exports stood at $20.9 billion in January, while imports totaled $8.7 billion. Accordingly, the trade surplus amounted to $12.2 billion against $8 billion in January 2005. The Federal Customs Service estimated foreign trade turnover at $26.734 billion. Exports hit $20.5 billion, including $2.5 billion to the Commonwealth of Independent States and $18 billion to other countries. Out of the $6.2 billion in imports, CIS countries accounted for $1.2 billion and other countries, $5 billion.
