The number of the diseased with salmonellosis in the Onega town has reached 99, including 72 children
The number of the diseased with salmonellosis in the Onega town, Russia’s Arkhangelsk region, has reached 99, including 72 children. The outbreak occurred in the Solnyshko kindergarten, the regional department of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday. The salmonellosis diagnosis was confirmed in 68 patients after laboratory tests. “Violation of the food preparation technology has resulted in the outbreak of the dangerous infectious disease,” the regional emergencies department said. The kindergarten has been closed for quarantine. There are 33 children in hospital. The first five children aged from three to seven were hospitalised from the kindergarten with symptoms of severe food poisoning on March 22. The Onega Prosecutor’s Office has instituted criminal proceedings over the fact of mass children’s poisoning under Article 236 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of sanitary-epidemiological rules). The kindergarten’s head, chef and head nurse have been brought to administrative responsibility.
