Sibneft will move to St. Petersburg by the beginning of 2007
Russia’s oil company Sibneft will move to St. Petersburg by the beginning of 2007, chairman of the board of the natural gas monopoly Gazprom Alexei Miller told journalists here on Friday. Miller said that the company’s board of directors made a decision to reregister the company in St. Petersburg at a meeting on Thursday. Simultaneously the board decided to rename the company - it will be named Gazpromneft from May 13. Miller said that the office of the oil company in St. Petersburg will be located on the English Embankment and in the future it will move to a new office building of Gazprom the construction of which will begin in 2007. The Gazprom head explained that the financing of the construction of the new building will be made also from Sibneft tax revenues. According to St. Petersburg governor Valentina Matviyenko, “The company re-registration in St. Petersburg is a historic decision for the city. It opens up additional possibilities for the development of major projects in the sphere of infrastructure.” Alexei Miller pointed out for his part that Sibneft will be the largest taxpayer in St. Petersburg.
