Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov arrives in Argentina on first ever official visit
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov arrived in Argentina on Friday. It is the first official visit of Russia’s prime minister to the second largest Latin American country over the entire history of bilateral relations. The main issues to be discussed will be Latin American problems and prospects for the expansion of mutual trade and economic relations, a source in the Russian delegation told Itar-Tass. Argentina, said the official, is currently presiding in the South American Common Market (MERCOSUR). Russia’s desire to establish contacts with the forming and formed regional blocs will be taken into account during the talks in Buenos Aires. The Russian delegation source noted that “We are not satisfied with the huge disbalance of the trade turnover.” Russian export to the country accounts for just 72 million dollars. It is necessary to increase Russia’s export to the country, including by means of supplying high-technology equipment, the expert said.
