There are no reasons whatsoever for taking any punitive measures against Iran
There are no reasons whatsoever for taking any punitive measures against Iran, because there is no evidence of its non-compliance with the provisions of the treaty on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, Russia's permanent representative at the United Nations Andrei Denisov told reporters on Wednesday. The five permanent UN Security Council members began unofficial consultations over the Iranian nuclear problem in the light of the latest statement by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that Tehran possesses nuclear technologies. The Russian ambassador called for not rushing events in the Iranian nuclear issue. Further actions by the UN Security Council "will depend on the conclusions in the report, to be presented by the IAEA chief, as well as on his recommendations and proposals," Denisov said.
