Two police officers and three militants have been killed in Daghestan
Two police officers and three militants, including a local warlord, have been killed in a shootout during an ongoing security forces operation in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Daghestan, local police said Monday. A local Interior Ministry spokesman said the militants included local terrorist leader Rajab Guseinov, known as the "emir of the Buinaksk zone," a region located about 25 miles west of republic's capital Makhachkala. The spokesman said Guseinov had inherited the nickname from his predecessor Abdulla Magomedov, killed in November 2005. Police are continuing their search for the remaining six militants who survived the shootout, he said.
