Wages of research workers of the Russian Academy of Sciences will be doubled, starting from May 1
Wages of research workers of the Russian Academy of Sciences will be doubled, starting from May 1, First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said here on Tuesday, when visiting the Institute of Nuclear Physics. Minister of Education and Science Andrei Fursenko stressed in an interview with journalists that “this is going to be the first step on the way of the fulfilment of the President’s order that wages of research workers should be increased to reach about 30,000 roubles by 2008.” During his visit to the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Medvedev familiarized himself with unique scientific developments of Novosibirsk scientists. Specifically, he was shown a device for effective examination of passengers at airports. Under that system, the passengers do not have to take off their overcoats and shoes during the examination.
