A Richter magnitude 2-3 earthquake hit the eastern coast of the Kamchatka peninsula in Russia's Far East Wednesday morning, local emergencies officials said. The quake epicenter was registered at 10.06 a.m. local time (9.27 p.m. Tuesday GMT) about 20 miles southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the Kamchatka Region's administrative center, which accounts for 60% of the region's 334,000 population. No casualties or damage has been reported.
