Over the first three month of this year, more than 450,000 litres of illegal alcoholic products have been seized in Chechnya
Over the first three month of this year, more than 450,000 litres of illegal alcoholic products have been seized in Chechnya, Chechen First Deputy Interior Minister Akhmed Dakayev said at the ministry’s collegium. “Thirty eight crimes have been revealed in the sphere of illegal sales of alcoholic products, and the number of such revealed crimes has increased seven times in comparison with 2005,” he noted. “More than 450,000 litres of faked alcoholic products have been seized, and the activity of 14 mini-plants for their production has been stopped,” Dakayev said. He described the increasing drug addition among teenagers and youth as another most acute problem. Since January 15 of this year, the preventive operation “Doping” has been conducted in the republic on the initiative of Chechen Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov. During this period of time, 120 crimes connected with illegal drug trafficking have been revealed, and these crimes’ disclosure has reached 75 percent. More than 28 kilograms of drugs have been seized. On January 18 of this year, Kadyrov demanded that the law enforcement bodies intensify fighting with the spread of drugs, calling to stop drug terrorism in the republic forever. According to him, some 2,000 drug addicts, the overwhelming majority of whom are young people at the age under 30, or 70-75 percent of the total number of drug addicts, are registered in Chechnya.
