The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Il-76 plane carrying cargo from Moscow for quake-hit Koryakia has arrived in Kamchatka. The Il-76 landed on a military airfield near the city of Yelizovo, and the unloading has begun, a source at the Kamchatka regional department for emergencies told Itar-Tass. The plane delivered 250 stoves, two tonnes of medicines, one tonne of rice, one tonne of buckwheat and one tonne of vermicelli. The products will be distributed in Koryakia's settlements hit by the quake. It was the third special Emergencies Ministry plane flight to deliver aid cargoes to the area. Food products, tents, stoves, blankets, medicines, electric generators and utensils were transported there. The country’s Far Eastern regions continue to provide aid for Koryakia. According to the Kamchatka department for emergencies, a total of about 100 tonnes of aid cargoes were delivered to the peninsula. Repair work is under way in the settlements hit by the April 21 earthquake. The operations are planned to be completed in ten days. A total of 1,599 people and 261 units of machines work there, dealing with the quake consequences. About 800 people are evacuated from the zone. Most of them were conveyed to the Kamchatka Region, some were sent to the Koryak settlement of Palana and some to other settlements that were not affected by the quake.
