The weather has drastically deteriorated in the search area of the two flight data recorders of the A-320 airliner
The weather has drastically deteriorated in the search area of the two flight data recorders of the A-320 airliner. Rain and rough seas prevent search operations, Itar-Tass learnt on Thursday at the center of the operation’s technical assistance. “Strong winds up to 20 meters per second swooped down on the area last night. It is very difficult to conduct work on the sea bed with the deep water apparatus RT-1000, but attempts are still being made,” a source said. RT-100 is a system, consisting of a control component, a descending and lifting mechanism and the descending apparatus proper with photo and TV equipment as well as a hydraulic robot, operating virtually in all directions. According to available data, the flight recorders are at a depth of 496 meters. The distance between the recorders is five meters. The A-320 airbus of the Armavia Company had plunged into sea while approaching the Sochi airport early on May 3. The disaster took the lives of 113 people. Work on lifting the flight recorders of the crashed jetliner resumed late in the evening, as winds subsided. The Navigator ship with the deep-water RT-1000 apparatus remains in the area of the flight recorders, the center of the operation’s technical assistance reported.
